woohoos.the vj choir's back from italy.woohoos.cheers to all dudes fer everyone's hard work.it all pays off in the end.gold for sacra.gold n champs for mixed youth.grand prize.woohoos.our moment of glory to keep with us.woohoos.anyways.it was great being there n competing n stuff.i love italy.the weather rocks.the stuff to buy rocks.pity we didnt get to go florence n rome.i think everyone would've liked that.on the plus side.at least i overspent by a bit.not a lot.this time i didnt really buy a lotta stuff.just the funky slippers.shoes.a few clothes n cards ba.ohoh.and food.somehow the total came up to quite a bit.ahaha.think i shall crap bout the whole entire trip.
day one - sg to amsterdam
the usual scam of the first day being used for flying.so yar.not really a first day.
day two - venice
we transited in amsterdam first.then like only a few ppl started shopping.and we sang sinsin on the plane.woohoos.then finally reached italy.somehow the second bus screwed up.so we all took the first bus.then dropped off somewhere in town to have our own lunch.most of us budgeted like mad.mine was like euro 2.40.considered v cheap.ahaha.then got diarrhoea cuz of the bloody food.woohoos.then mr kwei cancelled the first prac.cuz the conference room too small.hah.so that's bout all ba.
day three - venice again
today we took the ferry thingy all the way to the real venice.as in.the ss textbk that venice.then we had some local guide talk.ohoh.then we sang at d palace there.vjchoir just rocks.we attracted like damn a lot of ppl.they were like damn impressed that an asian choir can sing that well.then a hell lot of shopping.but i didnt really get a lot of stuff.just some.later that evening we sang again in st mark's square.then we put a hat there.and seriously a lotta ppl donated.then we bumped into the same couple from our transit flight in amsterdam.woohoos.
day four - riva
we started off in the morning to riva.we wore our college uni.cuz we werent supposed to have time to change later.for lunch we stopped in verona.then we saw the arena.and everyone started chionging for photos.then lunch.then after that on the way to riva.we split into tb n sa buses for sectionals.then we arrived at dunno what time la.then chiong for sound check at the church.then the congressi.woohoos.the church acoustics rocks.some super echo.then we heard the women's choir.from norway.the 爆炸头 woman had perfect pitch.then she just bam bam bam.give starting note.damn pro sia.we're the youngest sacra participant ba.then after that we went to congressi.then the hall is super dry.like totally zero.then we saw the 10 men bunch led by some jesus guy.quite pro.then after that chiong back hotel for dinner.n chiong to guiseppe for opening ceremony.we started with mu ge i think.then the woman announced it as moo gay.then we did sinsin.woohoos.sinsin rocks.then the crowd liked it.so yar.and we sneaked off after our performance.cuz next morning got sacra.at like 9 plus.so yar.
day five - riva + sacra
like omg.our first intl competition.cant rmb what time i woke up.i think maybe bout 5 plus.johnnie woke like at the same time.then by the time we were getting ready halfway.the rest of the peeps all humming n warming up next doors alr.ahaha.then we had breakfast.n practised like in the bar area.super squeezy.then poof.we walked to competition.then we had our last practise in the holding rm.then everyone huddled together n prayed.then poof.we were inside the church.then got like 5 judges there.so yar.we just sang n sang n sang.then over alr.so we sat down to listen to the rest.the rest were like ultra pro.like all the ultimate choirs alr.the individual vocal techniques all almost perfect liao.some tough competition.then yar.we um.did our best.so we had the afternoon free.then everyone chiong lakeside take photo.for like 2 hrs.then rush into town to eat n shop shop shop.that evening mr kwei told us.we stood a chance ba.considering the poland choir's repertoir n ours.then compare.he said we had a chance.is ultra motivating la.then if im nt wrong.that night had sectionals.either that night or the next night.i think is that night.then we went thru all our songs.like really worked hard.
day six - riva
um.no competition.but we had small group in the morning.until 11 plus.then we walked to congressi to support dunman high.they did quite okay ba.is just we found their songs unique.haha.then um.the afternoon was free i think.then i cant rmb.bt ppl started saying maybe we enjoy too much alr.ohoh yar.cuz we had prac w mr kwei at the congressi.then it wasnt that good.he didnt scold or say anything.but just told us to rest well that night.oh yar.cuz got public performance where we used our mixed youth songs n bin nam ma to practise ma.then wasnt v good at all.so ppl felt we enjoyed too much.then that night we were supposed to slp early.i think everyone did ba.
day seven - riva + mixed youth
woohoos.first thing in the morning.everyone chiong warmups.cuz was our most impt category.we were aiming for top.then we warmed up w mr kwei in the other building.then he went thru last min stuff.then we walked to congressi.final category.actually is second n final.but yar.anyways.we went up.n BANG.the cheering was damn loud.when we went off they carried on clapping quite loudly.then some adult choir ppl told us.after you everything else is boring.ahaha.then got some ang moh went to jeremy yeo n asked.what is de ge de ge lang dang.diao.kae.then the afternoon was free.bt mr kwei said.start practising our finals songs in any case.so we met earlier to practise ba.then results released.sacra sixth.mixed youth top.we had mixed feelings ba.cuz we expected better for sacra.bt in the end.we were marked down for submitting an english-editted gregorian chant score instead of handwritten.then the judges didnt like our ad dominum.too joyous.ahaha.but anyways is nobody's fault.that evening everyone dare nt eat a lot for dinner.cuz got finals ma.then we chiong to guiseppe again for finals.had like 8 choirs from 8 categories.then we sat right next to the stage.so could see the prizes.then we saw how BLOODY small the G3 trophy was.then we were like.aiya.so small.we take the grand finals trophy as well la.then really really did.woohoos.i love vj choir.after we did bin nam ma during the finals.the WHOLE hall gave standing ovation.only the judges didnt stand.but they couldnt anyways.they were like trying to look but kanna blocked by EVERYONE.woohoos.then since we were the sixth to perform.still got two more.then the next one was the women's choir sitting beside us.omg.their second piece damn strong sia.think some of us kanna freaked out.then was like intermission.then the super slow prize presentation.we got the G3 trophy.and the audience's fav choir award thing.then finally the announcers said.now for the grand prize.then the woman was like.the grand prize goes to....do you wanna know? then she said.the.vic.then everyone jump liao.woohoos.like screaming our asses off.crying.cheering.hugging.shouting.woohoos.it's magical.the moment of glory belonging to us.vj choir 05/06.our efforts paid off.crediamo.we believed.we sang.we owned.not in the egoistic sense.but yar.we did our best.n came through.woohoos.i love vj choir.and we did no man.omg.was damn nice.pity i didnt cry.wanted to earlier that evening.but nv.ahaha.when we got back to the hotel.mr kwei made a speech.he apologised n said that he was to blame for our ad dominum sounding diff from what the judges expected.but seriously it wasnt his fault ba.i guess we all felt our interpretation was not wrong.we really did engage the original text into the song lor.then yar.he said.1994 he went riva n chorale.bt he went to the finals as an audience.not as a participant.he said we helped him achieve that wish to be up there conducting.woohoos.no man is an island.no man stands alone.
day eight - milan
finally we bade farewell to riva.damn.i'll miss that place.the guiseppe.congressi.sancta maria church i think.the lake.the town.everything.all the times spent there w d choir peeps.so yar.we went to bergamo for lunch.omg.the pizza was like the best ever.there were like lotsa weird stuff.like pizza w potato slices as toppings.pizza w fries on top.n the more normal ones la.then shop shop shop again.ahaha.then we went to milan.to shop more.the streets were like kinda strewn w shops.but all damn ex la.like walk past see the tags in the window display no need to in liao.ahaha.yar.damn ex.but still we bought a bit of stuff.then that night we stayed at some place called express by holiday inn.so yar.
day nine - milan + homebound
our final morning in italy.ahaha.we went to a hypermall like 15min away from the hotel.omg.like 3 floors of shopping.then we saw this damn nice sneaker-like thingy.damn cheap.like 12.9 euro only lor.then a few of us bought the same design.ahaha.think monday is the mass wearing liao.heh.then yar.after that we went to the airport.to fly to amsterdam.then at amsterdam.OMGOMGOMG.shopping haven.cuz everyone had to spend the last bits of cash.we went to the clothes shop.grabbing clothes.i grabbed like the funky orange slippers.ahaha.then biscuit shop to buy the caramel waffles.damn nice la.then a lot of peeps bought alcohol.like frantically trying to find ppl to carry back for them.ahaha.then yar.fly off liao.hah.another 12 hours stuck on the klm plane.but not that bad la.heh.so yar.
day ten - sg again
ahaha.we touched down at 3.then yar.walked around in my funky slippers.then everyone was like.omg.nicholas.wth are you wearing.hah.then we paraded the trophy to immigration there.some singaporeans in the queue were like.oh.you guys won a competition ah.congrats.it's not just any competition.it's the bloody concorso corale internazionale.like damn hard competition la.wth.then yar.after we all took our baggage we took one last group photo.like um.our journey there n back ba.cuz group photo on day one.then in venice.in riva.n now back in sg.woohoos.that concludes the riva del garda trip this time round.but yar.tho it's over it'll always be fresh in my mind.woohoos.my first intl competition.and i think the last ba.since next yr im no longer in vj.it's kinda sad now that i think about it.cuz seriously.i love vj choir.there aint nothing like vj choir.anyways im gonna cherish my time left in vj choir ba.til next time then.
